This accommodation will expire at the end of September, and beginning October 1, 2007, all U.S. Citizens traveling outside the United States will be required to present a valid passport to enter and depart from the United States .

Just For Safety

Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends, so you can be contacted in case of an emergency.

Ask your medical insurance company if your policy applies overseas, and if it covers emergency expenses such as medical evacuation.  If it does not, consider supplemental insurance.

Familiarize yourself with local conditions and laws:   While in a foreign country, you are subject to its laws.  The State Department website at  http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1765.html   has useful safety and other information about the countries you will visit.

The key resource for health information is the Travelers’ Health page of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website at http://www.cdc.gov/travel.  The CDC website also provides general guidance on health precautions, such as safe food and water precautions and insect-bite protection.  The CDC also maintains an international travelers' hotline at 1-877-FYI-TRIP (1-877-394-8747) or, by fax, at 1-888-CDC-FAXX (1-888-232-3299).

Take a picture (on your cell phone) of the items you are packing that will be checked in as well as the suitcase you are packing it in. Keep the picture on you in case your luggage gets separated during your travels. This will assist in filling out a lost claims report and luggage identification.
